I don't know, I can see this leading to difficulty if the ability to lock threads is taken out of the hands of the Moderators. I could start a thread, then immediately lock it to prevent people arguing with me, and in order to rebutt you'd have to start your own thread, then you might immediately lock it to prevent people arguing with you, and then the forums have the potential to be flooded by many threads that should all be contained in one thread. While I like having a little more control, I can't put my support behind something that has the potential for great abuse.
