I do not know if this has been fixed or not, due to the fact that I abandoned the Bugs section once it started getting too obscure/technical for me. But I submit a hold that shows a graphical problem, which I found in The Mad House.

1. Hit the orb.
2. Wait for 30 turns.
3. Hit the orb.
4. Look at the bottom of the tar.

I have the latest version of DROD, but completely unpatched. I use Windows XP.

It gets simpler than that.

Since I can't access my DROD right now, what's the bug?

When monsters stand on a door or wall, their graphic is raised a few pixels (they are *on top* of the door). However the graphic is raised those few pixels into the square adjacent and above. Normally, this is not a problem. However, with tar occupying the above square, the snippet of graphic that went into the above square (which is filled with tar) fails to be removed.

I don't think this is a tar-exclusive bug. I noticed the same thing with eyes in 1s10e of the hold "Alert Monster."

Well, do you think it's worthwhile to resample and redraw squares above opening doors then? It would almost certainly get rid of the bug, the question then becomes one of graphical efficiency.

This bug is definitely not confined to tar. I see it while playing Loony Labyrinth too.

What I did is redraw squares above monsters when a turn occurs. This is simplest in the 1.6 code, and it shouldn't be an efficiency problem. A better solution has been devised for the new version.
