When you swipe a yellow orb, the action happens immediately (a door opens, toggles or closes).

When you swipe a blue orb, the action is delayed for 20 turns.

When you swipe a red orb, the action happens immediately, but reverts in 20 turns.

Specifics:
If you swipe a blue orb, then swipe it again in 5 turns, the first swipe is ignored. In this way, a toggle-style blue orb can only be toggled back and forth every 40 moves.

If you swipe a red orb, then swipe it again in 5 turns, the
second swipe occurs immediately and will revert in 20 turns. In this way, you could toggle-close a door, wait 5 turns, toggle-open it, then continue on your merry way knowing the door will reclose in 20 turns.

What do you think?

I think the timing would need to be altered to 30 turns, to fit in with the spawn counters.

I can see some potential for this. It may also be hard to tell how long it's been since the orb was last hit.

I was originally thinking 30 turns, but waiting 60 for a toggle of a blue orb seems a bit long.

Perhaps if there was an indicator, 5 turns of the bolts to alert you that the action was going to take place, or revert in the case of a red orb...

Have the orb blink progressively faster?

Nah, hard to gauge. Maybe lightning? I mean, the lightning would creep toward the target(s) each turn. So,

O12345D

O is orb, D is door, numbers are spaces, L is lightning.

at 26 turns after the hit:

OL2345D

And so on.

I don't like having lightning perpetually on the screen. It's distracting enough when placing a mimic, and that's even manually controlled.

Nono, it's not perpetual. It's just every turn the lightning would appear like it's been hit; and the destination would change each turn to reflect the timer.

Perhaps it would be easier to have a pressure plate with a countdown number on it?

Good idea with the pressure plate/counter. I was trying to stay within the bounds of the current drod though.

Well, it's been hinted at some point that Erik and co. like the idea of pressure plates, and will likely be in 1.7.

Yeah, but they kinda said they won't be revealing most stuff that's in. They HAVE revealed the fact that completed levels STAY completed, and unless they bluffed me out on the SF page that's probably true. I've spotted a few things pertaining to certain NPCS(We of course probably won't be able to program them) called "slayer" or somesuch.

Pressure plates, however, weren't mentioned.

Of course, the above examples are kinda leftover from the SF page that they missed/couldn't clean up/left as red herrings. But I'm hopeful.

There were the "Force Arrow Plates" but they might be decoys.

I suspect they're about 80% likely to be implemented. If you read the "spying on Caravel" thread you'll know The Flow is pretty much already made.

And given that they're both on the "upcoming" page....

But remember, Erik (or someone) said that there are a couple that are just there for decoys.

Yeah... efficient decoys.

"They change force arrows but we don't want to tell you anything else".

Easily written/converted to DRODish(the language of the announcements/articles), easily discounted: "We could't decide the mechanics of it".
