New tile: Pressure plates.

I envision three kinds of pressure plate.

1) The action of the pressure plate is in effect while something is on it. For example, a door would remain open while a roach is on the plate. The second it steps off, the door would close.

2) The action of the pressure plate is toggle-able. Meaning, any time the pressure plate is pressed (even if the same critter was on it the previous turn), the action is toggled. For example, that door would open and close every other turn while a critter was on it. This toggle-plate could also force a trap door to drop when pressed, or any other type of action in the future.

3) The action of the pressure plate is a one shot deal. Once the plate is pressed, it stays down forever*.

All grounded creatures (including Tar, not Wraithwings) would trip these pressure plates. Objects would not (such as potions). The plates would be 1x1, like the orb.

*As an added complexity, a pressure plate, or orb could affect other pressure plates. For example, if a puzzle required certain one-shot pressure plates to be pressed, and a mistake was made, an orb, or another pressure plate could reset those plates.

So pretty much it's like a breakable orb that is triggered by stepping?

I like this as it allows for certain mandatory toggles. Perhaps needing to walk in a certain pattern on a field of pressure plates, while stepping on the wrong one would result in a BOOM?

I'm thinking MineSweeper over here...

I don't see the pressure plates being destroyed when stepped on or off. I see them more as orbs that are affected by a ground creature and not a sword. The actions of the pressure plate, like an orb, can be tied to doors -- but also other events like dropping trap doors or whatever else gets added to the next Drod.

I should step in here and comment that I believe that pressure plates are not an uncommon idea, since I think it has been brought up at least twice before on this board, if I remember correctly. I think they're an interesting idea, but it would be good to check out what was said before.

Game on,

Yes, but they're still a good idea. I think we're 90% sure they'll make it in to 1.7 (well, I am anyways).

Thank goodness I keep aloe vera around the house then ;)

Yes, yes, you're not going to tell us the truth.

Yes, yes, you're one of a crack team of spin doctors.

Yes, yes, no peeking, top secret, trespassers-will-be-shot-survivors-will-be-shot-again.

But with all this mystery, we've just GOT to know what'll happen. You've got your own culture hooked on your stuff; you gave us the first(and second) one free and now we're following you around like lost puppies, waiting for 1.7.

Good job!

Lost ketchup as well? :)
Sorry, just had to say that.
Anyway, having spied on all of Caravel's secret meetings, I know everything that's going to be in 1.7, and I'm not going to tell you any of it.

OMG! Didn't think of that!
Don't worry, I've now placed a magic shield on my text so that Erik and his lackeys can't see it. And just in case they already have, I've erased their memories as well.

Ha! Erik's lackeys are innumerable and secret! They'll remember, and tell us, because they're good like that.

Also, your shield doesn't work.

Matt, who's right in the inner circle there

About the voodoo doll: Who's it of? Maybe you're sticking the wrong type of needles in. Try turning it upside down and shaking it a bit.

Of course, it's not very difficult to spy on Caravel, since everyone lives in Erik's basement. Isn't it cool having a gargantuan basement, Erik?

Seeing as it's so big, we can still conduct our secret meetings right under your noses without you knowing about it.

Matt, teasing

Ah, but if everyone drank an invisibility potion just before a meeting, then assuming that everyone knows where to go, meetings could take place right under your nose. Well, that is, if everyone's sitting down. :)

Ah - but how many people work for Caravel? There could only be 36 people, otherwise at least one person wouldn't be able to see someone else. And if there were any more than about 25, things would be pretty cramped. This is assuming that everyone's Beethro-sized, of course.
