I have a report that lets me see what people typed into Google or whatever search engine that brought them to DROD. Here are some on the more entertaining or unexpected ones. Note that the number next to each one indicates how many times somebody arrived via that particular search phrase.
20 x "
herman hesse metallica"
(The two obviously go together.)
20 x "
ending high fidelity sonic death monkey"
(Twenty people asked for the exact same crazy thing. Or one person asked twenty times.)
17 x "
www. teentitans. com"
(Spaces added by me to get past forum quirk. Why would you search for "
www. teentitans. com"
when you are obviously wanting to browse to same URL you just typed.)
15 x "
level one user"
(Level one user of anything in particular?)
11 x "
death"
(I picture some gothy dude, listening to the Cure, searching for "
death"
. Perhaps deadly rooms of death?)
10 x "
best minesweeper times"
(I dunno. How important is it to be the best at minesweeper? It seems there are going to be some fragile egos involved here.)
9 x "
quarce"
(I like to think people are looking for evidence that they can use this strange word. Well, now you can! DROD has brought it into the mainstream.)
9 x "
effect gimp how solve or solving red eyes"
(Try solving the evil eyes first, then we'll talk.)
7 x "
teentitans car trouble"
(What? You're having car trouble and you need help from the Teen Titans?)
6 x "
ugly black people"
(Well, this can be funny or sad depending on how you look at it, but definitely a strange request that has brought six visitors to our site.)
6 x "
avatar uploads"
(Some people don't care where they upload their avatar just as long as it goes somewhere.)
5 x "
architecture competition"
(Maybe someone will be confused and construct a physical Five-Suite Speaking Grounds instead of using the DROD editor.)
4 x "
dungeon monsters"
("
I want to know about monsters."
"
Certainly, but what kind."
"
Dungeon monsters!"
)
4 x "
rooms"
(Another case where the query is impossibly general. After they have learned everything about rooms, maybe they will ask about "
doors"
and visit DROD.net again.)
3 x "
mushroom avatar"
(Agaricus, you will be happy to note that precisely three people scoured the web and found your lovely mushroom graphic. And you were worried that people wouldn't appreciate it!
)
3 x "
good puzzle games"
(It is refreshing to find that a person can begin with this general question and arrive at the right location. As Oneiromancer pointed out: Google for "
good puzzle games"
or "
good puzzle game"
and DROD.net will come up in the #1 spot. I tried "
best puzzle game"
, and Google replied that I shouldn't be greedy.)
2 x "
a banana grower wants to transport his 3000 bananas 1000 miles across the desert to the market. all he can use is his one camel which can carry 1000 bananas at once but it needs to eat one banana to walk one mile regardless of how many bananas it is carrying"
(Apparently, one or two people typed this entire phrase into a search engine. I predict they were delivered to our soon-to-be-famous puzzle topic.)
2 x "
chris marks architect"
(DiMono, people are trying to find you for a construction project.)
2 x "
who sang why is everybody always picking on me artist music 50"
(I hope that we answered it someplace on the forum.)
2 x "
brock lesnar s tattoo"
(Why did this bring up DROD.net?)
2 x "
legendary sayings"
(Maybe they will quote Gunthro Budkin's words of wisdom in their thesis paper.)
2 x "
dolly parton calculator joke"
(Concerned mother wondering who started this debauchery? It wasn't anybody here!)
1 x "
popcap games help"
(Yes, everybody come to DROD.net for help with Insaniquarium and other PopCap Games. Heh. PopCap should enjoy that.)
1 x "
animated mongol"
(Animated mongols are hard to find, and I'm afraid we don't have any either. Sorry to waste your time.)
