Please remember that puzzles are an inexact science and thus one mans trash may be another mans treasure. So please make sure to treat each other with the uppermost courtesy.

Adapted from the Short Question, Long Answer contest:

Puzzle:

You have four sticks, of 1m, 2m, 3m and 4m. You are allowed to saw the sticks in two, but one of the resulting sticks must be exactly 0.1m shorter than one of the other sticks. How should you saw to end up with 5 sticks of 1.5m?

Additional requirement for this contest: To make sure the puzzle has an "original" solution, I'm looking for the solution with the lease amount of sawing. (Not sure what you meant by "original", do you mean "unique"?)

Here's my entry:

Crossword
Theme is DROD, certainly. ;)
Example crossword:
Click here to view the secret text

The entry-crossword is certainly larger than example one. There will be little red arrows there, near by word number - they show which direction you must write letters.

Here're hints required to solve little(but bigger han example one) crossword:
1. Type of creature(not really monster). One of them was main enemy(or something like that) of Beethro during JtRH events.
2. Aumtliches hate and afraid of this thing.
3. One of Caravel forum ranks. lower than "Legendary smitemaster", higher than "goblin". ;)
4. Imperial citizens often give up trying to get this if it's blocked by something, but sometimes they don't. What is that thing they're trying to reach?
5. An awful creature. Unlike to other monsters, this one needs special turns to change direction it faces.
6. Place where imperial scienists work. Place where imperial citizens live. This place is also deep.
What is this?
7. The highest position in Caravelian bureaucracy.
8. Pretty fool guys. Their intelligence is equal to guards'.
9. One of simple insects that are often live in dungeons.
10. Quite dangerous thing. If you touch it with your sword...

One of my favorite types of logic puzzles is true/false puzzles, so I am submitting one I made for the contest.

Laryngitis

Each one of Alex, Bert, Carl, and Dave is either a Knight, a Knave or a Liar. A Knight is someone who makes all true statements, a Knave is someone who makes strictly alternating true and false statements, and a Liar is someone who makes all false statements.

Three of the four people (Alex, Bert, Carl, Dave) make statements, but it is not known who is person 1, or person 2 or person 3. The fourth person says nothing since he is fighting off a case of laryngitis. The statements are listed below.

Person 1:
1- I am Alex
2- Bert is a Liar
3- Carl has laryngitis
4- Dave is a Liar

Person 2:
1- I am Bert
2- Dave is a Knave
3- Carl is a Liar
4- Alex is a Knight

Person 3:
1- I am Carl
2- Alex has laryngitis
3- Bert is a Knave
4- Dave is not a Knight

Identify who each person is and who has laryngitis.

There are four men and four women that all get stranded on a desert island. Eventually, each one falls in love with one other person and is loved by one person. John loves the woman that loves Jim. Who loves Arthur?
Interesting. This puzzle is yours, is it? Did you also write:

Lorraine is loved by the man who is loved by the woman who is loved by Bruce. Elizabeth hates Bruce and is hated by the man whom Julie loves. Who is in love with Jerry?

In fact, a Google Books result gives a Prolog programming book that attributes the puzzle to James Fixx, "Problems for the Super Intelligent", from the early '70s.

A man looks at his digital watch and notices that the time, as displayed on his watch, has rotational symmetry.
About an hour later, he looks at the time again. Now he notices that the time has reflectional symmetry. And he also realises that the time (as it would be displayed on his watch) between the two times is palindromic.

What is the time when this last event happens?

A few notes about the watch: It only displays hours and minutes, not seconds, and we ignore the effect of the : sign between hours and minutes (also treat this gap the same as any other). Otherwise, it is a standard digital display. Like this one. Finally, it has a 24 hour display rather than 12 hour.

The submission period for this contest is over. NiroZ has asked me to put up a poll, which I will do as soon as I figure out how (it's my first one).

In this thread, I see entries from:
lopsidation
eb0ny (2 entries)
noma
Tim
mxvladi
brian_s
techant
DanielFishman

The spitemaster has deleted his entry, so I won't include that in the poll.

Good luck everyone! :)
