I've wanted always to make an object from an separate image.

You have image floor, image wall and image pit.

Why not image obstacle too?

So, this works so we make an object from an image.

If right-clicking this obstacle, then it could say "Image obstacle".

Yes, but could that be so simple to choose "Image obstacle" then image?

If we use character, it could take time.

Shadows. Obstacles have shadows. (with different heights and so on).

Which means that it is not easy to make, and definitely not easy or fast as in 'choose "Image obstacle" then image'. It would take lots of time to get the shadows working properly.

I'd say the character bit is definitely faster and easier, and I've already learned that.

The problem with characters is that they take up only 1x1 space, which is not so good, if you need, say, 3x2 obstacle.

Unless custom tiles can fill *whole* square on the grid... which is still an overkill, because then you have to make separate tiles for every character.

You may use eight custom tiles for a custom NPC type, which allows you to represent up to a 4x2 custom tile obstacle with one image, using the same NPC rotated in the eight different orientations.
