I haven't found any topics mentioning this game.
So far, I'm really impressed. I've seen my share of various defense games, but this one is by far the most fun. Not only it looks and sounds pretty. It also has amusing introduction and story :-). It looks rather simple at first, but there's a lot of depth down there. Different types of defenses work and feel different. You can link laser turrets to make them more powerful against single targets. You have to build power plants and energy routes. You can overcharge energy links, sell buildings. And last, but not least,
harvest !. So you can expand more. So you can harvest more.
So there's resource gathering, defenses, and energy to balance. If you ignore one of them your colony will fall quickly. Aliens come in different sizes and shapes. You can the game speed or even pause to manage your colony better. It's not a clickfest. You even can (and should!) define priorities for each of your defences.
The demo is free and has a lot (perhaps too much ?) replay value. Windows and Mac OSX versions available. But it works in wine without any problem, as long as you emulate Direct3D instead of OpenGL .
So, what's your highscore ? :-)
