This beast would charge furiously at Beethro. Here's how it behaves:

It moves just like a roach, until

...until Beethro steps into Beast's line of sight. (Diagonally, vertically, horizontally).

It doesn't work if there's any obstacle (square other than floor tile or trapdoor tile).

When it happens, the beast starts charging in direction of Beethro. It doesn't turn at all, and stops only if hits something.

If something = ....
Beethro - the beast stops and Beethro dies.
Wall - the beast stops, and continues to move like a roach... or immediately charges again, if Beethro is in the line of sight.
Closed door - same as above.
Force Arrow - depends on direction, if it's compatible the beast passes. If not, the beast stops.
an orb - the beast stops, but the orb is is hit, just like with sword !
crumbly wall - the beast stops, but crumbly wall square is destroyed.
a pit - the beast falls into it and dies.
non-serpent monster - the monster is killed, and the beast stops.
(the beast stops if hits a serpent)
(if two beasts charge at each other, both of them die !)
Tar - works just like hitting tar with a sword, but Beast stops anyway (regardless of tar being harmed or not)

Just to make clear: the only way it can hit anything in your list is if it misses Beethro and hits something behind him? Since obviously the only things it could hit otherwise would be a door that is suddently closed, a pit opened by a trapdoor, or a monster that got in its way.

Errr, yes.

I mean that it HAS TO hit something each time it charges.

And it can't stop until it hits something + it never changes movement direction when charging.

errata: edge of the room works just like a wall for charging beast

Yes, it doesn't sound like a deadly monster, but it could be used to make interesting puzzles.
For instance in one room player would have to make it bump into walls instead of falling into pits... and ultimately use it to remotely trigger an orb :-).

Or just like in Level21 ( I think) - player would be surrounded by crumbly walls, and there would be MANY monsters outside.... and some Charging Beasts inside.

In this case player would have to kill Charging Beasts and avoid breaking crumbly walls too early... ( = avoid being swarmed )

I think it would be a lot better if there was a way to make it charge in a different direction.

I don't agree.

A few other monsters that can be immune to the sword would be interesting. Go see the "Armoured Roaches" request somewhere on this board. Obviously clones of all monsters, just made invulnerable, would be bad, but just one or two would be interesting.
