This is probably best explained with a video, so I've attached one. The clicky sounds correspond to keypresses.

When I (the queen) step SE onto the force arrow, a cutscene starts. The briar keeps growing, and as a result I die. Both the clicks you hear after that point are me pressing backspace. After the first press I start dying again instantly, and after the second press it looks like I respawn on a black background. After that, I can't move.

If I Alt-Tab away from DROD (eg to finalise the video recording) and then switch back, it repaints the room as if I was dying again (complete with red briar spike under the queen), but I still can't move and the cutscene is frozen.

What I was expecting to happen is that backspace would take me back to before the last move I made (ie so I could step SE and restart the cutscene, or choose to make another move).

Edit: I should probably mention that this is on Windows build 54, just in case it's platform-specific.

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like after Alt-Tabbing away and back again.

No, pressing backspace brings you one move back, regardless of whether it's a cutscene. Maybe you should make a feature request to have it move back to before the cutscene started, but I don't think this is a bug.

I'd argue that the "undo" command should undo the last thing the player (not character) did, but I'll argue that in Feature Requests if the current behaviour turns out to be by design.

The black screen and frozen cutscene bit is still a bug though.

Yeah. Undo should undo the last decision made by the player. If there's questions in the cutscene, undo should take you back to the last one or the beginning. If you die, undo should take you back to the last point at which you had control, whether a question or a move.
