This is my first attempt in designing a hold. Only the first four levels (and the entry room for the fifth) are done for now. It scales in difficulty for combat (it's mostly combat based) slightly faster than Dugan's.
That said and done, here it is for all the world to see. :D

Its a reasonably good hold for beginners although some parts will be hard for them.

I found 2 problems on level 4 though.

1N2W can't be done because theres an area you just can't get into.
As soon as you go north from 1N2E you are stuck and unable to return.

I expected the difficulty (for fighting) to scale up at a respectable rate, as I remember Dugan's had some fairly hard rooms in levels 3-5. If anyone wants, the two bugs are fixed up above. It might take a while for me to finish level 5. I have to let myself replenish my stock of ideas by taking a few days off architecture and by playing some other holds. :)

Why do you have an explanation for the wraithwings at the beginning of the third level and not of any other monsters? If I was to encounter a new monster, I would prefer to discover what it did rather than be told.

Anyways, new version's up. Under Red Hawk's request, the scroll has been removed. Levels 5, 6, and 7 have been added and the entry room to 8. Also, a few minor improvements/alterations might have been made to levels 1-4.

You can't get back to 1N from 2N on level 1. If you haven't visited 1S, you have to start the level again.

After some very unsuccessful experimenting with making a hold (my earlier ones were trash and had no aesthetic pleasingness) I realized the value of designing an elegant room. That's why so many of them have symmetry. I'm glad you liked it.

Levels 8 and 9 finished and ready. Also, there are demos (click demo on the title screen) for levels 1-6. And the entry room for the next level (like always) is up (level 10). And the warp on level 1 is re-set to go to 8.

the scroll says it can only be solved from the southeast
I solved it from the northeast

level 5 2 s 2 e
there is no way to get to the last orb and kill the roach queen behind the force arrows

Excellent hold, just finished level 9 and l10 entrance. It just left me wondering one thing....

Where's the rest of it?

I'm very confused. I thought for sure that there was no way to do level 5 2S2E and gave up on that old a long time ago. yet, Joker statement means he somehow got past level 5.

I, too, would really like to know how to solve this room.

I really should get back to work on the hold, shouldn't I? I probably will add on some more. For now, I'll release another update just fixing the bug in level 5. It's strange! I could have sworn that after I made the room, I playtested it and there was a simple solution for it. But now, I can't see how the room is even possible!

You know what would REALLY make my day? Anyone edit, or a warp to level 5. I did everything up to level 5 several times, and it's getting a little tedious.

If you don't feel like allowing us to peek at the inner workings of your hold I'm fine with that, but I'd like the opportunity to jump to where I left off.

Am I mistaken on this? Don't you keep your level entrances when upgrading to new versions of a hold? That's how it has worked for me at least.

Anyways, I'm sorry you feel frustrated on this. You are one of the few so far who have even taken the time to play this hold.

Why has this hold not progressed to the Holds board? I've enjoyed the hold so far. Should I give up? Is the hold dead? I hope not! :no [Shouldn't play two holds at the same time at my age!]

To be honest, I didn't find Onei's rather terse reply very helpful and I suppose my response reflected that. It was not my intention to upset anybody. I do think you chaps (to a greater or lesser degree)suffer from the universally recognised Developers' problem of assuming that what is obvious to you MUST therefore be obvious to everybody else. I can assure you that is NOT the case. A little gentle prodding and encouragement is much more helpful when it comes to the heady heights of my ignorance!

Before your post, the most recent post in this topic was over a year ago. Skylancer64 is still around - his last post was 11 days ago... but in the last year he's only made a dozen posts, so he's not been very active. You could try sending him a PM, which might get his attention if he doesn't look in Architecture and see recent comments in this thread.
