Perhaps you want to look a couple of pages back. There are many many instances of people doing a bunch of letters at a time.

Oops. It seems I have (inadvertently) irked some of you. I've seen people guess up to four letters at a time without a single complaint, although six is pushing things a bit far, eh? My reasoning was that usually only one word has been offered up at a time, so I hadn't really thought it was, um, excessive in this instance.
However, I do agree that there should be some kind of cap or limit on the number of letters one can guess.
On a side note, I'm not especially fond of longer underscores representing two or more letters, but that's (possibly) just me.

[Edit: Since Sillyman has not yet responded, I've reduced the number of letters I'd guessed by five.]

They are in code tags... which does on these forums (at least with the fonts I have [they came with my Debian, if you must know]) produce a small space between each one... and I can't put three spaces to denote a space... bah. Anyways:
