An Aumtlich's Quest : Imitation Grounds : 1 North, 1 West (0)

This room is confusing. I am able to break up all the mud with the mimic but the black door won't drop. Therefore I can't kill the mud mother. What am I missing? .

Thanks for your help. I couldn't see the mud under the mother when it formed after the first cycle. It was very subtle on my laptops screen. That solved the problem for me.
