Just beat it today overall it was a great game, it 100% lives up to SM64's standards.

I can see where LordKinbote is coming from, and I can understand his doubts, so I thought it would be best for me to check my times, and I found this. On the first day, I had played for 3:22, and had around 40 stars. The next day, I unlocked Luigi about ten hours in. That gives it a total of about thirteen-and-a-half hours. Admittedly, my sister did try to help a little in co-star with some harder missions, but that was how fast I was. Plus I did most of the prankster comet levels in one attempt, if that helps.

Okay, so that number a few posts back was from memory, but that's still a pretty quick time, right?

PS. Congratulations LordKinbote, you've gone from goblin to delver!

Hey, so I did. I'm not a post counter, especially since I'm such a lurker here that post count doesn't matter.

I wasn't calling you a liar in my last post, I just didn't see how that could be a valid estimate of time. 13.5 hours is a different story, but still an amazing time (My math-teacher self is forced to calculate that this is an average of 6:45 per star). I'm hovering somewhere around 110 stars, but I know some of these stars are going to take a while just on their own. Especially the purple coin level in Toy Time Galaxy.

Heck, the daredevil level on the Melty Molten Galaxy (or whatever it's called) alone took me over 20 tries. I just kept dying in dumb ways.

Ugh! Don't remind me about the Toy Time purple coin level! That was torture!

Some tips though if you want.

that's odd. I had little trouble with the toy time level.

Toy Time is difficult. However, Dreadnought's purple coin level is really making me pull my hair out.

I got the Dreadnought purple coins on the first try. The similar Battlerock one took me 3 tries, sadly enough.

Toy Time took me at least 30 tries though. And I actually got it because I started realizing just how useful spinning in mid-air was. Doing that gets you the some of those 5-coins in mid-air without too much trouble, and helped me out a lot in other places. I only got about 50 coins twice...once I hit 70, the second time I beat the level. I always headed to the bottom-right corner first because I knew that there were so many coins in that area that if I didn't get those, I'd have trouble getting 100 (there's 150 total so there's a decent amount more, but I wouldn't say way more). But that's the toughest part. I do not look forward to doing it with Luigi.

I'm still not very far in the Luigi run. When I first got Galaxy, it was on a Friday, so I had plenty of time to beat the game. I beat it in two and a half days. Luigi, however, is much more gradual. Two weeks since I unlocked him and I'm still at the second dome.

Hey, so I haven't finished yet, I'm at something like 70 stars actually. But I was just wondering, when I do get to the Luigi run, what will the diffrence be? Do level designs change? Does Luigi have diffrent abilities? Or is it all just an excuse to play the whole game a second time?

I don't want story spoilers, if any, just the actual gameplay diffrences.

Luigi skids to a stop from running, all the time, like Mario on ice. So you either need to pull back early or do a jump-stomp move to prevent the skid. I think he also jumps a bit higher with all jumps.

He's also a bit more green.

He does jump higher. You can do jumps you couldn't do as mario.

gosh darn luigi's purple coins in toy time grrrrr

Is there any point to the time limit on that level? It's not like you can exactly stop anywhere. It'd be nice if the 1-up mushroom wasn't at the opposite corner too grumble grumble grumble.

My strategy for that one was to wait for a while (a month?) then get it on my first try, after complaining to my brother about how difficult it was going to be.
