These don't look all that cloudy to me. Particularly at the cloud-to-sky edges they seem more like something viscous held together by surface tension.

That may be an artifact of the lower colour resolution, it does that to edges. But hey, you have just discovered a hint as to what is going on with the picture.

Maybe this is too difficult, since there is no way anybody could just guess it (especially if they try to look at the image). Here are a few hints, but my hopes aren't high:
- Try looking deeper.
- A very large thing is hidden somewhere.
- Do not try to use your eyes. (It will only make them hurt.)

With that said, I still feel like the average user will be left without hopes of discovering anything. :? I will post the solution soon anyway.

Errr... PNG doesn't support any color subsampling. And even with JPG you should have an option to turn it off...

But hey, you have just discovered a hint as to what is going on with the picture.
Steganography much lately? ;)

Yes, of course, it's not the format's fault...

Steganography much lately?
Briareos is on fire. But I'll wait to see if someone can retrieve that which is hidden as well.

Anyway, here are some fractals I generated (using my own programs, of course :)). (Some of them may appear a bit dark, though.)

(My web server is experiencing a bit of down time at this moment, but the link should work later on.)
Edit: Web server back up. ...for now.

Thanks...I noticed that, too. Its head is a little misshapen as well, but then again it is only a cartoon.

Rejoice! My web server is back online! Do not hesitate to check out the nice fractals I made (link in my previous post). Unless, of course, hesitation is your kind of thing. In which case it's fine.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Hmm... nothing. Or maybe I am too impatient?

Anyway, I have attached an enlarged version of Lamkin's eye. I was writing an algorithm for Voronoi-style stained-glass effects. So I tried it on the eye, and I thought it looked rather nice. My main idea was to use this for special effects (as I said), but it also seems to work well for image enlargement (if you take away the noise). I could just add a 4th/8th degree polynomial filter and we'll have a fully anti-aliased stain-glass Eye.

I think it's more that we're too indifferent.

Personally I'm waiting for your reaction to Briareos' guess that you sacrificed those mysteriously missing bits of colour depth to steganography.

It was really hard getting the base snowball even remotely spherical; that's why it is kind of distorted!
