I have started over again because I finally did escape the castle and the first guard, but didn't know where to go from there and could not escpae the second guard at all. So started over because of the posts about using the water and about the rope. I ended up on the balcony but didn't know how to get off. I assume I need the rope? I know where the rope is but I don't know where the alarm is to get Geriant out of the room so I can get the rope. Can someone either help me get off the grounds to the city or tell me where the alarm is so I can get off the balcony? I have looked at other posts before sending this and no one really tells me where the alarm is or how to get past the other guards. Thank you.

A friendly tip on posting: Add your question to the end of the existing help thread. There is no need to start a new thread for each and every question.

One way of getting off the balcony is to use the vase.

Regarding the rope, you can still play all the way through the game if you don't have it. You just don't get the best ending. I would recommend playing through the whole game once, just to get the basics. Then play again to optimize your final score, once you're oriented. You should also be aware that there are multiple solutions to many of the puzzles in the game. Just because one person posts about solving a problem in a certain way doesn't mean that you should solve it that way.

Thank you and sorry about the new post....your right I should have just added to the other and I should have known better as well. Again, thank you for the help in the right direction and I will take your advice and play through without it to get a feel for the game. I certainly need it.

EDIT::
How do I get in the shed where the Druid is and the only thing I have found this far is the bag...where is everything else I see in all the other threads. I'm loving this game, but I will say "it ain't easy"...

I don't get the option to ask him to borrow it. How do I do that? I have been trying to figure it out but having a difficult time. I got the option only once to ask him about the shed and the key and now nothing. How do I trigger it?

How to borrow something from the druid (or any other character):

How to delete extra posts (it's a forum bug, not your fault):

Okay am I just dumb? I got the key, I'm in the shed. I see the vial...but I don't know how to get it. I found the shovel. I tried to get the ladder, but I can't and maybe it's so obvious I can't see it, but I don't know what else to use. Everything I have tried doesn't work. Please help?

Me Again....I started over as I really wanted to get the rope. So I have tried and tried and tried with no success. I have pulled the alarum as I'm supposed to and then I go over to the balcony to where I'm suppose to jump but I can't get Geraint to come up the stairs at all...other guards come, but he never leaves the room so I can't get that darn rope. What am I doing wrong? I pull, I wait, he doesn't come. should I be standing someone else? Should I go down the stairs a bit? Actually I did try all of the above and yet nothing. I can't get the rope. I know it's optional, but I would like to be able to do the side quests that it is needed for. Please help.

I am trying to get away from Barghest (sp?) without getting killed. I can't seem to move fast enough. Is there a way to make him run? If not, how do I get away from him before he gets me?
