Swedish director Ingmar Bergman passed away last week, and he's made some pretty famous films (Fanny and Alexander, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, Scenes from a marriage). The only one I've seen by him is The Seventh Seal. I'd recommend it, but it won't make my list.
