I'm here, I'm here! Sorry, very long shoot today. (And sorry if this seemed too difficult. All my other clues were too easy, I thought I'd make this a little tougher.)

Ralph Fiennes it is:
1. Constant Gardener
2. The End of the Affair
3. Schindler's List.

Your turn kzc.

I suspect this will be difficult:

1) A photographer
2) A factotum
3) A judge

1. (dated) A person having many diverse activities or responsibilities.
2. (dated) A general servant.
3. idiom "Jack of all trades".

Michael T. Weiss, who was the star of The Pretender.

Um, actually I think I just broke the game.

Yes, yes, and Scott Bakula, in Quantum Leap. Now that those are out of the way: back to the game. :-)

Hmm, no takers? How about this then:

4) A titan [non-film/TV role]

I find this confusing - do you mean that it was not a film role but a TV role, or that it was neither film nor TV?

Sorry - it's a voice-acting role in a medium that is neither TV nor film.

Oh dear. No, I'm afraid not. Two more hints:

This person won an Oscar for role 1).
Role 2) portrayed an actual person.

Beautifully done, ma'am.

Role 2) was in Waiting for the Moon, in which she played Alice B. Toklas (noted factotum to Gertrude Stein). A little obscure, I confess.

Thank you. Try this one:

1. an eccentric, drunken film idol
2. an eccentric, possibly dangerous, film director
3. an eccentric -- well, actually crazy -- British nobleman

Geoffrey Rush.

1. Peter Sellers (The Life and Death of Peter Sellers)
2. I think there's a movie where he's the devil or something. Let me check. No, not that. Intolerable Cruelty?
3. Marquis de Sade (Quills)

Sorry, good guess, but incorrect.

2. Rush played a soap opera producer in Intolerable Cruelty.

3. Although the Marquis de Sade was certainly eccentric, or at least licentious, I don't think he'd be described as crazy.

However, I am awarding a point as I think the characters are close enough.

Clarification/hint:
3. an eccentric -- well, actually crazy -- British nobleman

My guess was going to be John Malkovich:

1) Being John Malkovich
2) Shadow of the Vampire
3) (could have maybe been Dangerous Liaisons before the clarification).

Nope, not Malkovich. Hmm. I thought this one would be easy. Some hints:

- expansion on Hint 1: an eccentric drunken film idol
and,
- this person was nominated for an Oscar for each of the three characters I've listed.

Don't worry about the point.

Here's mine. I'm guessing it won't be very hard:

1 - A ship's captain.
2 - A bounty hunter.
3 - A British football/soccer player.

Ahhh, cute. I think it's Keira Knightley.

1) One or more of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, I suspect.
2) Domino
3) Bend it like Beckham

OK, I think adding an adjective to one of these will make it much easier:

1) A knight
2) An emperor
3) A diabolical shop-owner

Yeah, my first thought was "needful things" and I worked backwards from there.

Here's the next one:

1 - A US President

2 - Another US president

3 - An amateur actor
