Obligatory content of the first post in a thread so as to make another thread much less confusing.

Let's start with card graphics. Is there anybody out there with any kind of drawing skill?

Not me.

That said, a board game mixed with a card game tend not to go together, especially if the cards are random. The only real exception is if the cards are the only random element of the game (think eurogames like Carcasonne or whatever it's called). You're probably better off going a la DreamBlade (you don't have to have miniatures, though), because it's a highly strategic game that doesn't involve card-related chance.

I never intended it to be a board game with cards though. I was thinking that'd be more of a card game where position matters...

Though if you really think a board game would be more effective, I might switch.

A card game where position matters is fine. I just wasn't completely clear on it. I just get erked by games that have confusing boards and card decks (or something similar) to boot. I was a bit confused by that long post of yours.

I agree, I think the best bet would be to have each players side be a 3 by 3 square. Each space could hold one creature/architecture/whatever maximum.

I also think you should be able to enter your opponents territory, and if we decide that you can't, I'd go with a 4 by 2 rectangle, but meh.

Condensed:

You can draw up to five cards a turn, but you can only have five cards in your hand. You can play up to two a turn. There are two rows. You move once then attack a creature in front of you. You can only attack when in the front row. When attacking, you add your attack to a six sided die, and compare it to your enemies defense plus a six sided die. If the attack is successful you destroy the creature. If not, the creature gets an extra move. No damage done.

More cards.

Creature: Wraithwing

Atk: 2
Def: 2
Cost: 6
Can move onto the opponents side.
When two wraithwings are in play, both wraithwings get +1 to attack. In groups of 3 of more, they get a +1 to defense.

Effect: Invisibility Potion.

Cost: 8

Creature gains +5 to defense.

Architecture: Pits
Creatures that can pass:
Wraithwings
Fegundoes.

Effect: RAYGUN !!11!!11!!11!!11!OMGWTFBBQ
Cost: 50
The raygun is by far the most powerful card in the game, infact, I thinl thet it shod be made tje bestres carf im tje gsme rlly its shod infect i wodemakeitthebetrdirongnbfjjhfbhgbjnfhbhfbhbhd

Maybe, instead of a "Creatures that can pass" section of architecture cards, they default to blocking everything, and a wraithwing (for example) would have a "Can pass pits" section.

With just two rows, however, I really don't see the point of architecture cards at all.

I see your point, do you have any suggestions on how to replace that element of the game? I want something to set it apart from all the other card games out there.

Here's my go at a Board Game.
I tried to keep it simple. It's a 2 player game.
There are 2 teams : Exterminators - Critters

And 3 zones : Black - Blue - Red
Red = Exterminators Zone
Blue = NEUTRAL ZONE
Black = Critters Zone

Also 2 types of special cells :
D cell = Can be used only one time per team. When a Critter/Exterminator is on this cell, he will select another Critter/Exterminator and remove it from the game.

T cell = Continuous use. If an Exterminator/Critter step on these, they will change their movement type : from diagonal to orizzontal/vertical and viceversa.

The Exterminators/Critter will move like in the Checkers game, except that they can move back without reaching the other side. To kill a opposite team member, just step on it, like in DROD. Also,
a Exterminator or a Critter, can jump over a member of the same team, only one time per turn.

The goal is to reach the opposite side.
The priority of the movement is decided by a dice roll at the start.

---XXX---

Anyway, for the card game "where position matters", I could do the graphics, if the templates I posted aren't good.
