once again, I find myself completely lost as to even a
basic idea of the strategy.
here's what I've gotten closest with, but I seem to be way off:

1) enter/place-mimic with sword facing SW.
2) put the mimic just above the 2-wide, on the eastern of the two squares north of it.
3) kill two tar babies, SE, turn so sword is facing NW, south a lot, leaving a trail of babies and, more to the point, stripping the middle column down to 2-wide, while the mimic is shredding the western column.
4) at the bottom of this run, I need to kill the modicum of babies I've accumulated, and then move the mimic to kill the last 2x3 bit of tar in the western column.
5) now I need to get the mimic into the middle of the 2d column, and kill each of the disconnected blobs on the east. but as I go north, I also need to be killing babies, because otherwise I'm surrounded and die.
6) all the eastern babies dead, the mimic having driven north through the middle of the 2d column, I proceed with sword NW to slice downward through the middle column (2-wide, thanks to step 3), and thus into the tar-gate protected chamber...
7) between 8 and 16 turns too late, depending on how I played step 5.
