I feel terrible for starting a topic on this room (since it means no one has had trouble with it before), but I'm starting to get frustrated.

I can get no more than two aumtlich stuck on the mirror, leaving me trapped by the remaining two before I can get rid of all the tar.

Is it possible two get three of them trapped by the mirror? Should I alternate between which aumtlichs are stuck on the mirror? Do I need to move the mirror during the tar clearing? Or must I rely on tar babies to block the aumtlichs' vision?

It is possible to trap three of them on the mirror - I did. The important thing to know is that you can't trap three at right angles to each other.

Try it from a different angle.

Oho, clever. You should post that as a Challenge: Solve the room without moving the mirror. Just make sure there's no link to the above post.

You can only do it if you start exactly 3 spaces from the aumtlich. by being that close the aumtlich will turn instead of moving north, then turn back when you move west.

I have finished TCB and am going back to get all the secret rooms so I can play the bonus level. I can see where this room is on the hints page map but can't find out how to get into this room. Please give me some help to find out how to get into the room to complete it.

It's a long trip through crumbly walls, starting from one of the rooms immediately adjacent to the secret room...

All right, I managed to finish JtRH only with some reading the forum, but for this secret room, I'll have to post . So, I succeed in trapping 3 auntliches, but after that, I'm stuck in a wrong quadrant of the room, that is I cannot proceed without losing a lock of an auntlich, like this :

Any clue ? A demo ?

×Get inside the tar right away. Clear it from the inside out. Jbluestein's method (above) is the most straightforward.

Well, I did exactly this. Things get complicated when I have to remove the tar "curtain". Especially the last side : even with two aumtliches trapped, the remaining two are then blocking further movement for my poor Beethro...

For the moment, H&S magic (that is, when you find the solution right after posting) has not helped me much :-/

First, cut a one tile wide path to the east of the mirror to freeze the aumtlich at 1. Next cut out a little one tile pathway at 3 leaving a tar baby there. That tar baby will block the beam from the left while you work on freezing the aumtlich at 2. After clearing out a bunch of tar, I last froze the aumtlich at 4 then cleared out everything else.
