icon The Beeping beep sound is getting desturbing! (0)  
Whenever I play a 3.0 hold I get a windows beep sound when I do certain things. How big the problem is varies from hold to hold. Sometimes I get several beep sounds when I try to exit a room. Sometimes I get one whenever I hit backspace. Sometimes I only get one when I exit a room.

Everytime you hear that beep, a line gets added to DROD.err in TCB's "Data" directory - posting it here might help... ;)

Sure thing. I hope this makes sense to someone. I tried the latest patch, but strange things are happening. Demos don't get saved, and CaravelNet acted strange when I tested The Cave of Eyes.

I hear beeping in all holds constantly since I applied the 3.02 patch. It always occurs as I cross the room boundry, and looking at the .err file it's filled with the same two assertions. (I'll get an exact quote later, but it's something about demos.)

Any money guesses that it's to do with demo management. Anytime I complete a room and exit it, a demo isn't saved, and trying to view demos for that specific room will show a demo from an entirely different hold. In my case, I was playing one of my homemade levels, but when I went to play a demo for it, it was showing a room in the tutorial.

The following lines are consistently appearing in my drod.err file:
Assertion error in line 348 of .\Db.cpp: "demoIndex.find(demoID) == demoIndex.end()"

Assertion error in line 349 of .\Db.cpp: "demosHoldIndex.find(demoID) == demosHoldIndex.end()"

Just to confirm, those are the same assertion errors I'm seeing. (Hundreds of them. :) )

I think these issues have all been fixed in 3.1. When I post a candidate patch, anyone can try upgrading their 3.0 .dats again to verify this.

When I post a candidate patch, anyone can try upgrading their 3.0 .dats again to verify this.
I finally got around to upgrading to 3.1 (build 54), and still have this issue. The above makes me think there's something else I need to do, but I'm not sure what...

Help?

Yeah, I'm guessing there are some corrupted demos in your .dat files and build 54 is still warning you about them. No more demos should become corrupted in build 54, but any demos that already had this condition previously will remain that way.
