This is a bug I found in AF 2N1W.
If you press Ctrl+5, the mud grows and creates a baby, then press Ctr+5 again, then that baby will become invisible, seemingly until the moment it moves again.

It works fine for me. I'd say that your screen resolution isn't fast enough to show you the mud baby moving.
