Heya!

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I decided to put it in the General board.

Anyway, I just have a question about DROD: AE, involving players and upgrading through the different builds. The thing is, when I installed new builds, my player was imported, but treated as a different player on a different build. What I'm saying is that when upgrading builds, my player becomes a stranger to itself, meaning that the player is no longer considered "You" in holds made by that player in earlier builds. It's like the player becomes someone else when a new build is installed. This may sound confusing, but it is hard to describe with words.

My question is: What is the reason for build upgrading causing the player to change? It seems that it is something I'm doing wrong, but what?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. It's just that builds are part of the beta process - they're not official releases - and the DROD team has better stuff to worry about than ensuring this sort of compatibility between builds. Remember that once DROD:AE is actually out, there will be just one final build (until 1.7, but that's different).

For now, keep an "editable by everyone" version of all your holds, and when using it in a new build, just make a new copy and manually delete the "originally authored by xxx" caption.
