The lighting effects are fantastic. They really set the mood in game, and if I don't like them, I can turn them off (I haven't turned them off because I really like them and I can play with them). However, I just visited the H&S forum to see if I could help some people out and some of the room images (specifically in rooms where the lighting is low) make it almost impossible to remember what was going on in the room or how to approach the solution etc. Since these images are largely used as diagrams, would it be possible to remove the lighting effects from them? Or have an option to see them without lighting? Or perhaps, since somebody is going to say "I went to all the trouble of lighting the room so that it looked good and now everybody looks at my images without lighting and it looks terrible", we could have two shots of the room next to each other, one lighted (to look goooood) and the other not (to be practical)
