I am grateful to all of you for your reassuring responses. Yesterday was the end of term; the end of an absolutely frantic week working all the hours God gave to get pupils to finish work for the SQA and, when I came home last night, I was more than tired. I came in here in a bit of a mental slump, to “switch off” from work matters and when I saw that I had been modded down I immediately assumed that I had given offence somehow.
I am rather more sanguine about it all this morning. If, as has been suggested, it is just some silly person,- a “right glaekit wee scallywag” as my Grannie would have said - then I am merely puzzled as to why anyone would go to the trouble of digging out one of my old posts just to mod it down. It seems a bit spiteful, but - Hey Ho! - it takes all sorts (another of my Grannie’s much used sayings).

- no, not per se. Obviously people here will have very different points of view from me - that’s perfectly healthy and other members are quite entitled to express disagreement in the form of modding me down. I would much rather discuss any disagreement rationally though and what upset me was that, as it was such an old post, it seemed that someone was ‘getting at me’ rather than letting me know what I had said to offend so that I could fix it.
My thanks again to all of you and in particular to Pinnacle - my dear, that was a very kind gesture and I will return it, so that you can use the mod point for a rather more deserving cause than a silly overworked old woman.
