So what's the trick? I figure I'm either missing a trick that will save me one move, or I'm going about this all wrong. I admit that the second one is a major possibility.

If the mud blobs at either 1 or 2 grow unchecked for more than two spawn cycles, I'm sunk. Both have to be taken care of.

If I start with my sword facing south, and head right up towards blob number 1, I can get there and keep it from getting blocked. But if I do this, I'm just one(!) turn too late to make the mud baby generated by blob number 2 get into position to stop the growth down there.

If I wait up near the top of the room, before going in the tunnel to blob number 1, in order to make sure that the mud baby blocks blob number 2, I no longer have time to get to blob 1 before it grows too much and completely blocks the passage. Once again, I'm just ONE move late! Grr!

So what's the trick? I figure I'm either missing a trick that will save me one move, or I'm going about this all wrong. I admit that the second one is a major possibility.

Thanks guys. I did it the way jbluestein suggested. Turns out I was missing a 'trick' that saved me one move, and I found it just by re-examining my moves. It was a dumb mistake, really. Just so nobody else makes it, my mistake was...

That's pretty much what iamyum is suggesting, actually.

The start of the room is definitely unforgiving, so if there is another way to start the room that leaves it solvable, I haven't seen it yet.

×Starting with the sword pointing south. This is not the fastest way. If you start with the sword pointing southwest, you can slip past a mud baby and take care of it at a point which saves you a step or two compared to the way you have to do it when you start with the sword south.

i'm having the same problem as mentioned before, keeping both blobs blocked, in blocking the southern, i free the northern one.

Does anyone think that waiting a long time for the mud babies to fill the last area would work? I think it would take about 1500 moves.
