OK. Not the first room in this hold that has driven me to insanity, but the first one I've felt compelled to ask for help on, simply because the only solution I can see is so...so.
Here are my assumptions:

1. I need to grow tar across the hallway into the room with the roaches.
2. Since (1) takes a minimum of 61 turns and the outside track is shorter than this, I need to stash the snake somewhere. The easiest place for this seems to be the room with the roaches.
3. Then I just need to shove the snake back into its track, kill the tar mother, clear all the tar, kill the roaches, and do all this without the snake dying.
'Just'.
I've tried it with leaving the center room alone until after the tar has grown across, which seems to be easier because otherwise I have too many tarbabies to contend with. But the act of clearing a path into the center track and sending the snake back out seems to require extremely precise timing and I haven't been able to do it in a way that allows the snake to survive making more than one circuit.
So I feel like I must be missing something. Please tell me that I'm missing something.
