The question what is, and what isn't? Simply playing socially there has been a number of occasions were someone has walked in a started commenting on the game at hand.
Few have been the times when I've not wanted to turn around and punch them, even if they were helping me. The few times that I have welcomed it, they were coaching me/my opponent and the game had started with the intention of coaching/discussing chess.
Of course, things might be different where you live.
