Norsk Språkråd (or "The Norwegian Language Council" ) sometimes does that with english words that come to be used much in norwegian everyday life, to preserve the norwegian language.

For example, a few years ago, we got a norwegianized version of the word "service": Now it's officially spelled S-Ø-R-V-I-S (which is exactly how it's pronounced).. We already had some words that cover most meanings of "service", but apparently people saw the need for another one. It wasn't very well received at the time (the spelling - people laughed at it - the word was already used much, which is why this translation took place in the first place), but it's getting more common now.

(eh, let's hope not)
