Sadly, I think there's inevitably a whole lot of "you know it or you don't" in this thread. I'd never seen Constantine, and I didn't recognize the actors, so even having read the graphic novel of Hellblazer in which his lung cancer is a central plot point, I couldn't guess that movie. On the other hand, I recognized the 7th-season Buffy shot immediately.

This one is...familiar, but I can't place it. I'm tempted to check TV schedules to see what was showing last night...

by coincidence, which is why I thought it was stranger than all that, Onei and I both rented the same dvd recently. it wasn't on regular tv. But that's reality, it's... well, you can't write this stuff.

nope, I guess that would be TOO much coincidence. I got it from a local copy of a chain video store.

Nah, too much coincidence would be you watching it at exactly 9:30 PM EST (6:30 PM PST) and pausing it in the same spot to take a break and...anyway.

I was more amused at your not-so-subtle hints than anything else...people will still likely get it by the picture.

those hints are what I was referring to with the "thwack me over the head" comment
but I see it like this: those were gonna get it were gonna get it immediately (Maggie was pretty distinctive in appearance in that film) and just groan at the terrible way I tortured my sentences to work in bits of the title. those who weren't going to get it, weren't going to get the hints... so mostly I was just trying to get a laugh or groan or both out of you (and apparently Kinbote )

Actually, not true. Nathan Fillion's first appearance as Caleb was an episode that aired in mid-April of 2003 (and its last episode aired May 2003); Firefly aired from September 2002 to August 2003.

Also, those eyes don't belong to Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner--I can see how you'd think that, but, alas, no. See if this helps:
