You're taking a screenshot of the ugly purple/very dark/hardly used color that fills the player window so the graphics card knows where to overlay the video. So if the same color is shown somewhere else on the screen (like your paint program or something like that) the video will "
shine through"
in those spots as long as the player app is showing the video.
Don't use PrintScreen or anything fancy to take screenshots with VLC (or most other players, for that matter) - just use it's built in screen shooting function; in the case of VLC it's "
Video / Snapshot"
in the menu. That'll save a PNG of the currently shown frame in your "
My Pictures"
folder.
Just make sure you then convert that PNG to a JPG to cut it down in size before posting here.
