Hey, that's my tagline! You can't steal it, it's copyrighted!

This song was in my head today, and it took me a while to remember the names of both the song and the group. Not because it wasn't a popular song, but because the names are both rather obscure.

I don't mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadence

No, I'm not kidding.
By my calculations you owe me twenty grand in royalties for the use of "Game On".

Seriously Neil,
You can send me payment in small bills by US post. I'll send you the details off-forum. I understand the mixup this one time... so ~900 postings.... let's just call it 10K even, sounds good? It's a deal, take it!
Thanks!

In any case, I'm a student, I'm used to continuously racking up debt.

Huh. I didn't think it was the Mmmm song, but even if I had figured it out I wouldn't have known how many Mmmm's there were in the title. :P You go, Matt, you got both. If no one else had known it at all then I would have claimed it.

Good point, although I think the bit at the end where they sort of hint that demonic possesion is rife in American surburbia might have something to it.

Also, I've completed possibly the most important task in the DROD.net update schedule: Filling a hug jar with M&Ms. Will post pictures.

Time to do some showing up... The song's Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim, and the actual lyrics are:

I guess you just don't understand
It's gone beyond being a man
As I drift off into the night
I'm in flight

Alright, I'm back in again.

Light a motive
Light a candle
Step down, step down
Watch a heel crush crush
Uh oh, this means
No fear, cavalier, renegade steer clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies!
You offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline!

In my defense, I'm not sure anyone actually knows the lyrics to Weapon of Choice. I've seen at least three different sets of lyrics for that song.

Well, correction. One person does, but the bugger should be making new songs.

In my own defense, I was really tired and it seemed much funnier to me at the time than it probably came across. None intended, hope none taken.

Heh, I don't expect anyone to like the same music as myself, and I certainly won't be insulted if someone doesn't, but this is about lyrics, not musical taste. People with good musical taste don't listen to lyrics anyway. ;)

BTW, the Springsteen one has the same title as a Dire Straits one, but I'll leave it to DiMono

I was pretty sure you wouldn't be insulted, but I had to say something. But about your last sentence there...I have to disagree, interwoven lyrics can be as much a part of music as the instruments. Take, for example, Simon and Garfunkel or the Indigo Girls. If you were just being tongue in cheek my fault for not getting it.

I like the Dire Straits one better I think (although since they are two very different songs except for the title this doesn't mean much), but it isn't as well known as the Bruce one. Go ahead and guess it if you want, DiMono probably won't check for a while since he thinks he got it right.

Yeah, there should have been a ;) at the end, though I do tend to listen to predominantly progressive rock where there tend to be long instrumental passages. I listen to a lot of Italian prog rock too, where the lyrics mean nothing to me. Could be a good reason to learn another language.

The Springsteen song is Tunnel Of Love

This one may be a little unfair. A search will reveal the answer, but I wonder if anyone knows the band. The words are spoken, not sung.

This remarkable, sometimes incoherent transcript illustrates a phantasmagoria of fear, terror, grief, exaltation and finally breakdown.

My only guess was Vincent Price narrating Michael Jackson's Thriller. I knew that wasn't right, so I looked it up. By Jeebus, man, I think that is the most obscure thing so far in this entire thread! Kudos to anyone else who knows it...

Isn't that Porcupine Tree by Voyage 34?

If it is, see my previous movie quote :D
