"The Show Must Go On", by Queen. Awesome song, awesome band.

If you covered him with garbage, George Sanders would still have style,
And if you stomped on Mickey Rooney, he would still turn 'round and smile.

Doesn't anyone know this quote? I'll give you another from the same song:

You can see all the stars as you walk along hollywood boulevard,
Some that you recognise, some that you’ve hardly even heard of,
People who worked and suffered and struggled for fame,
Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.

I know mrimer's quote is from some guy named Erik Hermanson, and I think the title would be "It's the End". He never did give it a title though. I have no clue about Malarame's quote.

Nobody knows this? You people have no taste in music. The song is "Celluloid Heroes", by The Kinks. Anyway, here's another, easier quote:

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.

I cheated and used Google. I feel justified in it, though, because no-one posted the answer. And I don't know many lyrics anyway.

I'm not posting the answer, but I will say it's from the same artist as another one of the guesses on this board. That should narrow it down enough while still keepin' it interesting.

Sorry to hijack your question, Schik, but I wanted a new song.

Matt

Heck, I want to just give it to you, but...

Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see ...

Finish off that line and you have the title.

Paradise by the dashboard light - Meatloaf

Here's another one where I know the song, but I didn't know it's name (I have this album though, so I could look to find out).

I gave her a push, I gave her a shove.
I pushed with all my might, I pushed with all my love.

I would've given it to you, Scott...this game is hard enough anyway. When I used to play Name That Tune using the car radio, we only had to get the group name, never the actual song name. But then again, we were trying to yell the answers within 2 seconds, we wanted as short an answer as possible.

Game on,

Well it's been 24 hours and no guesses, so here's a hint, same song:

Well, i'm a thinkin' and thinkin', till there's nothin' i ain't thunk.
Breathing in the stink, till finally i stunk.

I'll accept just the artist as an answer, as I couldn't remember the song name without looking at the liner notes.

The Violent Femmes Country Death Song

I'll try again... hmmm, the first thing that pops in my head is a velvet underground tune, but that's probably too obscure... so how about:

I don't want the world,
I just want your half.

Ok it's been awhile...
that was Ana Ng by They might be giants.

So, take three... I'll try to pick one that someone will know.

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds by The Beatles

I'll add mine in an edit so I can establish the time. :D

Okay, here we go. This stanza is actually half the lyrics of the entire song--most of it is instrumental.

I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing I aint pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

As an additional hint, this is a really famous musical group, but this is a song from their early days, when they didn't have the same singers.

Game on,

Wait....

Is this by any chance I Can't Dance by Genesis?

I can't actually recall the pacing of the words, but it rings a bell.

Nope, not Genesis. And that goes against the hint I gave, since I Can't Dance was from their last album with Phil Collins, which was when they were most famous. Back when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer they weren't as popular (at least outside of England), but someone else earlier already did one of those quotes (and I didn't recognize it either, for which I was chastised).

Yeah, everyone is trying to be honest, thanks for doing the same.

Here are some more hints for my song: you know that Santana song, Black Magic Woman? Well, this group actually wrote that song, back around the same time as the song that I am quoting the lyrics above, and the lead singer's name was Peter Green.

I doubt that this will give it away to anyone who doesn't already know, so if I remember tonight I will give an easier quote.

Okay, that was Oh Well, Part 1 by Fleetwood Mac. They still perform it live now, with Lindsay Buckingham filling in Peter Green's shoes admirably.

For my next quote, this is a band that is really only hugely popular in Southern California, but they performed the title song to a famous 80's movie, and this quote is from what I think is their only nationwide hit...but it was a pretty big one, so I think people should know it.

I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder

Okay, how about this one:

Many miles away something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake
