A few rules:
1. If you need help for a specific room, click on the "Search/New Topic" button and follow the prompts to select the room in question. Try to use the existing topics, if any, before starting a new topic. Oh yes, and there's some commonly asked-about rooms HERE that you may want to check first.
2. When getting help for a specific room, your post subject will link to an image of the room. If you need to place markers to describe something, please continue to use the "Insert DROD Room image" feature.
3. If you are giving away information about how to solve the room, there is a special feature you should use that will hide your text, like this...


To hide your text in the same way, type something like this in your message:

[secret]Your secret text here.

I just thought I'd add this. It's always nice to add a DROD Room image to your post too. I think this is one of the lesser known features of the forum. To insert a room image, just click on the "Insert DROD Room image" link beside the text box when posting. The picture is helpful to point out where you are stuck on. It also makes it so the people helping don't have to go look up which room it was, because there is a picture right there.

And as long as you're bringing that up, for those people who have dial-up connections you can consider placing the image as a link, not directly in the post. You can choose what to do on the screen where you can place the numbers on the map.

Since the topic of secret text had been brought up, I thought I'd say something about it in this thread: After someone gives you hints, don't restate the hints in your reply without putting it in secret text. To be precise, hints should ALWAYS be hidden.

Can we add something like "Don't ask for demos, they won't often be given."? I've noticed people asking for demos a lot recently.

Heh, the problem is that demos are being supplied, and you can't really stop that, barring having Cramp and Schik monitoring the boards and deleting all demos that they deem to be unreasonably supplied. After all, sometimes we've tried everything and still can't explain what needs to be done, and then it's supply a demo or the person asking for help quits the game. So sometimes it's a judgement call.

But otherwise, yes, I agree, if you have to constantly ask for demos then the game's not right for you, and there's no shame in admitting that and moving on to something else.

I think we should add "Don't give demos unless they're explicitly asked for". Demos are major spoilers and should be avoided unless there's no alternative.

The link for rooms that people commonly have questions about does not work.

Hopefully, after April is over, I will be around a lot more...graduating in 25 days! Just gotta survive having no life for a few more weeks...then I'll be back again in full force
