Actually, I find that feature to be extremely aggravating. The problem is the dialogue - it keeps popping up and I have to confirm opening Firefox. I understand why it's necessary post-crash - you don't just want to re-open a site that might crash again - but bost reboot, it's just irritating, and slows me down. I wish there was a way to turn that off...

(Maybe there is, I actually should look into that)

There's an X in the top-right corner. Press that before shutting down.

Well, duh.

I often am running 5-10 programs at once, and it used to be (back in the good ol' FF 1.5 days) that all of them would close seamlessly by shutting down windows. So, I got used to just doing it that way instead of closing each program individually. I don't like having to hunt down and see if I have a Firefox window open before turning my computer off.

Not a big deal, certainly, but as I said, I find the fact that this is not turn-offable to be one of Firefox 2.0's downsides. Certainly not enough to make me switch back to IE, but still, annoying. (and note, I still haven't checked to see if maybe there's an extension or an advanced configuration option that lets me turn this feature off).

Well, that's another option that's missing in 2.0 when compared to Session Manager - with Session Manager, you get to choose to either load a fixed session on startup or bring up that selection dialog.

(And yes, I've set that option to "Previous browsing session"... by the way, someone's working on a FF2 version here, maybe give it a try.)

np: Bolz Bolz - Groupies (Schaffelfieber)

In FF 2, this will turn off the default session manager:

browser.sessionstore.enabled false
browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash false

They don't exist by default so need to be created.

Quick instructions if needed:

Type "about:config" in the URL
Right-click -> New -> Boolean
Type the keynames and you should then be able to set their values
