I'd hazard a guess it's the Yokohama Marine Tower, based on the "Yokohama, Japan" you didn't cut off enough of in your picture...

Got it! I thought it would be too obscure without the Yokohama hint, and a decent challenge even with it, so that was on purpose. Next time I won't pull any punches.

Can I ask how you tracked it down? I know the lighthouse isn't mentioned at all in the main wikipedia Yokohama entry...

Heh... searching Wikipedia for "Yokohama Tower" gives "Marine Tower Yokohama" as the first hit...

I have chosen my picture, but it is 2.4MB, which I know is far too big. So can I ask for help/advice on shrinking it?

It is currently saved as an Appleworks ‘draw’ document and in the ‘save as’ list,(aside from Appleworks and Clarisworks), I can choose from :

BMP [QT]
JPEG 2000 Image [QT]
JPEG [QT]
MacPaint [QT]
Photoshop [QT]
PICT[QT]
PNG [QT]
QT Image [QT]
SGI Image [QT]
TGA Image [QT]
TIFF [QT]

Which of those would be best, or is there anything else I should do?

Save as JPEG or PNG. BMPs are uncompressed so you won't be saving much space.

i will be really impressed if anybody finds this place! it is captured with a hight of about 8 km and the only clue is that it is formed by a volcano and there two villages on it. not my thing to browse the whole earth included the oceans...

but all the others: try it out!

i think that it causes of the double point ( : ) instead of a single point (.) before the "jpg"...

normally you will get opened a list of programms installed on your computer. just pick out your favourite imaging prog (or paint) and it should work. other alternate: re-upload the picture with "dot-jpg"...

Thanks zauberer! I have a hard enough time coping with my own computer. Helping to sort out someone else's is a bit beyond me I'm afraid.

Is anyone else haviong problems with the file? If so I'll seek advice on how to adjust it.
