What's at A?
And what's just north off the picture and at B?

To give a hint: We are in the Americas now.

Hah - it's Walt Disney World, Florida.
I think A is the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and B is the entrance to the Magic Kingdom itself.

Hmmm, too easy again! I thought I had zoomed out just enough to make the opera house difficult to distinguish. Well done, wallu!
I have been there and it is one of my favourite cities.

This one is too easy. What island and what is the highest peak?
Corsica (and Elba, Pianosa, Montecristo and ... what's the one in the north? Can't be Gorgona ... Capraia maybe? plus a small bit of mainland Italy)

According to wikipedia, the highest point on Corsica is called Monte Cinto (or Mt. Cintu in the local dialect).

Hrrright. Never mind googling individual landmarks, please just identify this characteristically-shaped city.

That is definitely London UK, with the Seine in the middle snaking it's way into the Pacific. To the North is the Persian Gulf, and Oslo is approx 2 miles South?

Certainly a plausible guess, but the Seine is clearly greener than this. Also, note the suspiciously empty polder to the west where London would have the Acropolis.

The 'well known mountain' gave it away before I even had to search ;) But I searched, and it worked.

Well, its quite difficult thinking up landmarks that aren't obvious. So, this is probably obvious, but it still looks cool.

Hey Znirk you still need to give me points for getting your pic ;)

Neather2, is there any particular reason you blacked out some elements of the city you picked there? I think the point of this is to show the *whole* map, not the map except for a couple little areas in the middle.

:has no clue what city that is but guesses it's in Europe somewhere:

I keep forgetting about those. Actually this thread doesn't seem to have a point-related rule at all, so what's the general standard?

in the first riddles ther were three questions, so we gave three points for the correct answer. but a standard does not exist as far as i know. i would say that the correct guess of a city (for example) without any further hints should be worth two points. but at all you are free to decide this yourself...

Manicouagan. A google search for [crater lake -"crater lake"] turned it up, eventually.

Yeah, something like the first 5 million results were all about Crater Lake.

Ok, I've got the next challenge attached. You've got to identify the round thing with the reddish top towards the lower right. I hope the picture worked out, I've never done image editing on a linux before.

(edit: See zaubberer's post two down for a more reasonably sized version.)
