coppro, thanks for the maps.google hint. I knew about that one, and the main reason I used the other computer was that it has a broader-band connection than this one. The g.earth application was just another thing I found when I got there.

Look at the left half of the bottom end of the picture. It's a sea port.
As Surnia noticed, this city is in a square grid -- but only partially. The bottom left quadrant is pretty obviously older. Also, the clean break between the two parts suggests that old city walls were torn down not long before the squares were built.
B may be pointing the wrong way ... and maybe not.
It's not in Berlin, but there aren't many pictures of A that don't show at least one crane.
A is a church, B a statue.
This city has held olympic games.
It's an officially bilingual place.

A is the Sagrada Familia (unfinished and probably unfinishable church).
B is the statue of Columbus pointing out to sea. Popular wisdom has it that he should be pointing Americawards, which is of course the other way (because Barcelona is on the East coast). But then, he wanted to demonstrate that you could seek the East by going West; so why not indicate the West by pointing East?
