Either way, I wonder what it looks like to be next to it.

I always figured it was, and being compressed into a small point then being superheated by its proximity to Sun Island would cause all sorts of strange effects. Something like solid, rapidly vaporising water.

Also: this suggests that, on the Eighth, there's a perpetual southerly.
