It's strange, from what I've played so far, it seems that you only play as the character shown in these shots for a short period of time. At least his appearance changes as soon as you see the aliens.

Got it. I wasn't planning to make more screenshots anyway, someone else has done that about 70 pages ago in this thread.

What's so interesting about the screenshot was, that it shows the location of the bonus item that was impossible to get, because of a bug. That mistake meant that it was not possible to see a special ending at the end of the game.

Nowadays some games are just intentionally crippled and they are being called as "future downloadable content".
