But apparently no one who fits the bill is taking you up on the offer, so I'll sneak in before Casebier stumps us all again. :P

Well, Oneiromancer, since the screenshot was so crisp, I figured it was from the native resolution of the device. GameBoy Advance games are 240x160. It was in the first set of games on the first site that I visited.

Oh, I guessed how you intuited the answer, and I applaud your problem-solving skills, but I can't help but be disgruntled. And the Mobygames link was just insult to injury. :P

And actually I have the DS version of the game (and it's a good Metroid clone, although not as good as the real Metroid games) but those screenshots were few and far between. It doesn't look much different though, the second screen is used for the map while you're playing and there are no touch screen controls.

I only posted the MobyGames link because I stumbled across it while searching for the source of your screenshot. The first screenshot that identified the game for me had Jenosa on the left side of that boss.

Okay, new screenshot here. Bear with me as I get more taken, as this game is old and doesn't want to work properly in XP Media Center. This shot is from the game's prologue.

I actually played this game, I'm pretty sure...Rendezvous with Rama. Or actually, I guess the game was just called Rama. Only game I've ever played where you had to solve puzzles in a different number base than 10.

So what's up with the asterisks?

Aww... I never got a chance to post any other screenshots. :-(

Correct title is Rama. Rendevous with Rama was an old DOS text-only game.

Well that looks awfully reminiscent of Diablo II, only in 3D. Thus, Diablo 3?

NiroZ got it. It's a close-up render of the 4-armed mutant things in the Desert of Diablo 2. Knowing Blizzard's quality, they rendered all their monsters in super-high detail but we couldn't really tell because of the low resolution (and it's in 2.5 D anyway).

It was. But the sprites were made by rendering 3D models.

Nah, the sequel had almost nothing in common. :) I played Atlantis, but never Cosmic Ark.

It's also the title of a book by Isaac Asimov. If you're an SF fan, that might have been it too.
