Well, going by the 320x400 screen mode of the screen shot it has to be a DOS game, and it seems to be an RPG, so after some googling - Ravenloft?

Pretty close, but it's not Ravenloft. You're right, it is a DOS game though.

That's it! I loved those games. There were 3 in total, that I remember. The original on the Game Boy, the second on the NES, and the final on the SNES.
