You can save into different formats using MS Paint. It's my preferred cropping / pasting / composing editor.

1. Choose "Save As.."
2. Choose ".JPG" on the dropdown menu.
3. Type your name and click save.
4. ???
5. Profit

(Or you can use .PNG if you want a lossless format, because mspaint's .jpg always loses some quality, but for screenshots this can result in a rather large bmp-like file)
