Doesn't look familiar at all, but then I don't know _that_ many games.

Oh man, I've played this game! But I can't recall its actual name, probably because I played about one level before growing tired of it. Googling the company doesn't work, surprisingly.

I think I know the answer, but only because I cheated and did a search. So, I'll hold off from posting.

To be honest, I don't mind that at all. I've intentionally left enough clues to let anyone who did not played this game to search for it. Besides, if you were able to find the name using the screenshots, then you are quite good. :)

Altough I must say I was a bit disappointed that no one else actually played this game, even when a certain forum member :) mentioned it in one of his posts some time ago.

Please note that this game is quite hard, but you wouldn't expect it otherwise, would you?

-- Tim

PS. I do want the correct full name of this PC game, as is removed from the previous screenshot.

IIRC, Puzzler was some kind of top-down game with various objects. ie. not the game in the screenshot.

I think I've played this one (or at least something very similar), but have forgotten what it was called...

And with that, I am suddenly able to find that I was wrong about the second half of the company's name, which leads to the discovery of their website, which then leads to 'OMG they still *exist*?' and then the follow-up, 'OMG they make software I can *run* on my Mac?' :D

As was I, I kept searching for 'Soleil'. That's the circus.

Incidentally, if you chance to get see a Cirque du Soleil show, go. I recommend it. (Unless it's Zumanity and you're under 18. How does a circus show get to be adults only, anyways?)

I hadn't played anything by them in years. Haven't been on a DOS box in years. I remembered the start of the company name, though, which says something!

And I'm going to guess a circus show gets to be adults-only by having nudity in it. Since Cirque du Soleil is all-people, it *does* make sense that they could do something like that.

Actually, the text I've removed from the screenshot is "BLOCKMAN 1", as they have also released a second one.

Get it here.

It's a quite old game, so if you want to play it you might need to use dosbox.

OK, I played this one back in the day, but don't have it anymore, so I had to get the screenshot from MobyGames.

Edit: Resized file to make it larger.

I'll post a new screenshot in a moment.

The funny thing about the last one, I remembered that I played it on the Apple II, and that it was made by ECA, and I remembered that most of the level names were based on levels of Hell/Purgatory, but I couldn't remember the actual name of the game itself. Fortunately Moby lets you sort by platform and by publisher so I found it that way.

Anyway, I have brushed out names in the attached shot in order to maybe make it last a little longer. This was one of my favorite RPGs of olden times...the first two in the series were almost as good as the Ultima games, in my opinion.

Game on,

Correct, asmussen! The first two Magic Candle games were, I thought, amazing...the third one was just too buggy and whenever I tried to play it my saves would get corrupted and I could never beat it. I never did try the spin-offs either.

And Cedhric, I definitely remember beating the game at least once...I think one neat/frustrating part about the game was that after you got to the end of every level, you had to run back to the entrance to escape. Maybe it was just a gimmick to extend the length of the game, but it definitely helped make it harder too.

You are correct sir! One of the best NES games, in my opinion, right up there with Blaster Master and Bionic Commando. I really hope the Wii includes those games on the download service...

You're a better gamer than I then. And what makes it worse is that I never played the full version of Realm of Impossibility. What I played was Zombies, which was the original game that became Realm of Impossibility when Electronic Arts published it. Zombies had fewer levels... :no

Oh drat, I was away and missed Guardian Legend coming up in here... :<

I loved that game. Played it so much I wore out my cartridge, back in the day. Still hung onto it, though. AFAIK, the fact that I own a cartridge, albeit a non-working one, means it's legal for me to have a ROM image of it as long as I'm not distributing, right? ^^;;

Oh, how I *hate* the specific bosses like what you put up, Neil... :<

Hehe, I thought about putting up one of the interior shots, but I decided that a shooter shot might be harder to guess. At least that guy is easier in normal mode than in TGL mode. Actually, my method for TGL mode was to die (or maybe even completely continue) at the beginning of every single level. This is because you got bonuses based on how many points you get, after you pass certain milestones. The milestones are a lot denser near the low end, so you actually make it harder and harder the less you die (or continue).

Game on,
