Well, strictly speaking NPCs do move on walls and pits at the same rate Beethro does - not at all.
Doh! I sorta deserved that one.
Can't seep and WW NPC's move over appropriate terrain?
Yes, but I'm talking about scripted characters, such as in geomatrx's MetDROiD Prime, where the Ridley character goes slowly over walls and pits.
If you really want to, you can create an illusion of this with 2 characters that disappear and reappear in every other tile.
...It's tricky, I know, but if you added moving on walls directly to the normal Move command, it would break rooms. And adding a new command just for wallwalking doesn't feel like it would be worth it.
I see what you mean about breaking rooms--it couldn't be included in the normal move command. Maybe there could be a "
wallrider"
or "
pitrider"
functionality, where wallrider allows movement on walls and floors, similar for pitrider. This could be turned on and off as needed.
Again, though, that does seem like potentially a lot of work for little to no reward--aside from cooler special effects.
