1. Basic business ethics.
1) is true enough.
Once you admit something is unethical you're supposed to stop arguing in favor of it. It's pretty clear at this point you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.
Note to Syntax: The relatively mundane observation that Caravel should take into account customer expectation (which Erik alludes to in practically every other illumination) does not even remotely translate into "
caravel.net costs money so should be as I expect it to be"
But you're getting somewhat afield from the original point I objected to, which was "easy holds don't really have a place as Smitemaster Selections either."
Which should be yet another clue that you're over-reacting to an out of context statement.
My only point is that, while it's clear that some people will object to easy holds being included as SmSs, we also know that some people will welcome them, and some don't mind much either way - while it's probable the first group is the largest of the three, I'm not sure it's larger than the other two combined. I don't have much objection to "SmSs just generally be of moderate difficulty" (in fact, I'd agree with it), but only to "easy holds have no place as SmSs".
Since this is your only point, it's a shame you didn't make it in your previous posts. You would have given me a chance to explain myself. I assumed that in the context of my entire post combined with Erik's post that it would be clear that I wasn't saying no SmS hold should ever be easy but saying that "
easy and accesible to everyone"
shouldn't be the goal any more than "
difficult and inaccessible to most"
should be. Unfortunately I was wrong.
