I just tried updating to 14.1, but it won't work. I gives me an error message. I wanna hear Beethro's Teacher's voice!

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this, Mr. Enchanted Hat. Would you tell the error message you are getting?

I noticed this yesterday, but didn't have time to report it. The problem I had was with the download of JTRH patch from http://forum.caravelgames.com/downloads.php. It downloaded a 600byte file rather than the full patch.

It seems to be fixed now though.

I'm not getting any voices either.

I get the following errors:

DROD:Assertion error in line 366 of ../../FrontEndLib/Sound.cpp: "CSoundEffect::LoadSample(): Failed to load sample."
DROD:Assertion error in line 366 of ../../FrontEndLib/Sound.cpp: "CSoundEffect::LoadSample(): Failed to load sample."

I'm not sure if there are supposed to be voices in the bit I've played so far - I've met some dude on the road and he's given me a name, but it all appeared just as written text, not spoken.

I'm using version 2.0.14 on Linux. Is there a patch for 2.0.14.1 available at all?

It works now, but last night it was giving me an odd error message. Something like a file couldn't be found. Another odd thind is that the JTRH logo wasn't next to the file, there was just a blank white box where the icon goes. But I redownloaded it, the logo is there, and it now works. But still no voices.

Oh...any holds that have been imported in 2.0.14 will need to be deleted and reimported for the voices to work. And this is not enabled for SS holds yet, but will be with the next patch released. Sorry But when Beethro's Teacher is updated, just download the new version in 2.0.14.1 and voices should work.

If I've updated to 2.14.1, will my title screen reflect this?

I ask this because:

I downloaded Beethro's Teacher and had no voices. I was pretty sure I had already applied the 14.1 patch, but my screen only shows .14.

So I redownloaded the patch, which ran and seemed to complete without complaint. But my screen still reads .14 (no extra .1).

And, of course, I still have no voices...

At the moment, I have very little invested in this hold since I can't actually complete any non-trivial room. So if I can solve this earlier rather than later, that would be cool.

(If the only current solution is a complete reinstall, though, I think I'll just pass and wait for the patch that will allow deletion of SS holds.)

It could be possible that you didn't have 2.14.1 when you downloaded the hold. I don't see any other explanation. (Besides the usual "check your settings and make sure the voices box is ticked, and that your headphones are plugged".

I seem to have voices elsewhere, so that's probably it. It's at least possible that the night I decided to install the patch was the night the Caravel Forum merged with the infinite, in a temporary sense, anyway.

Ah well. Guess I'll wait for the patch...
