Finally my first hold went online. It is supposed to be a not too hard but especially fun hold with a variety of different puzzles.

Have fun playing and join Beethro on his Journey

THANKS:

A big thank goes to Stefan as he spent probably more or less of all his spare time of the last 24 hours on this hold.

Other Main testers include:
Ezlo
Michthro
Pilchard VIII and
Zaubberer

Without you this hold would be far from finished by now.

The reason for this you might find in Level3

Hi everyone...

I just made an update, dont worry there was just a minor mistake with major influence in level3.

Sorry about that, have fun playing and please dont rate it after you just played the entrance of level1 as one did :-)

Someone must always rate the hold so that other people can download it in the game. This means that usually holds get one fake rating in the beginning which gets fixed later.

I cannot confirm whether or not you have any errors downloading the file. O:-

However, I can assure you that I managed to download it correctly. I can also point out that Caravelnet has been pretty unstable the past hour or so, so it may be that there was some network issue at hand. I hope that's helpful :)

Ok, I can confirm that there really is something strange going on here. I think the same thing has happened numerous times in the past to several updated holds. It seems that the hold available for download in-game through CaravelNet is not the same as the one available in this thread (in this case, the one on the forum is just garbage data). The CaravelNet hold downloads and imports fine, but the one on the forum is corrupted.

I think we need the monkey to check it out.

Nothing you can do but wait for Schik to come to the rescue. Mean-time, you could export and attach the hold here, for those who don't want to wait till the problem's fixed.

I've fixed the attachment at the top of the topic. If anyone knows of other holds this has happened to, let me know and I can fix them pretty easily.

It was simply a matter of the file size stored in my database for that hold being incorrect after the update.

not all that hard, no. not like entrance to area51 hard (ugh!)

I thought I had it when only 4 roaches got by the mimic, so after clearing everything else I got back to the roaches and found out I couldn't get to the last one. start over, and somehow do the impossible let 0 roaches by. hard hard hard (but, hard is fun in a puzzle game)

u can get all 4 if you just let 4 pass....
you just have to kill the 4 roches in the right order :-)

EDIT: No sorry I was wrong... you cant, sorry about that, this was a last minute change which seem to have made it by far more difficult than plannend. Originally there was another row where it was allowed to let roaches in, this row was able to be used as a help to get the mimic to the lowes roach. As I deleted that row i deleted that help as well, so yea, although it looks different you got to kill all of them... sorry for that

2nd EDIT: And btw... it even gets harder look forward to level5 2E2S for example :-) ot of course my personal favourite, the secret room in level 5... so game on and dont give up.

I'd just like to confirm that Area 51 Entrance *is* still possible however, though I'd agree that it took a while.

If anyone wants the secret password to skip this room, please just send me some money in the post.

Thanks ;)

[EDIT]

Lack of coordination on the keyboard.

Well I've nearly completed it (I don't think "The Final Countdown 1S" is currently doable as one of the more recent patches fixed the behaviour of certain monsters being able to kill Beethro on tunnels, despite not being allowed onto them).

Overall a great hold! The style of the puzzles remains consitent too which is great. Also, "The Praised Land Lies West" had a really atmospheric graphical theme. Looking forward to a follow-up :)

[Synopsis]

Favourite rooms:
Deep into the Earth - 5N (Good tar/mud revision course)
Area 51 - Entrance (This was tough! Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but I spent the next few days walking in diagonals. Brilliant execution)
Area 51 - 3W (Cute)
The Final Countdown - 3S 1W (I love these! Credits too? Respect!)
The Final Countdown - 2S 3E (Just great fun)

Least favourite:
Deep into the Earth - 4N (I don't think scripting itself should constitiute the puzzle... but rather be used to help things along)
Praised Land - 7W (Too many variables to keep track of. A nightmare to optimise, but that doesn't matter to everyone)

Novelty rooms:
Start of a Voyage - 2S (Perpetual motion)
Praised Land - 6W (Make your own maze)
Area 51 - 6W (Just doesn't quite fit... but it must! No... Erm...)
The Final Countdown - 2S 2W (Playing checkers on a dumbbell board. Didn't really enjoy it, but nice twist)

Always a pleasure :)
And you're absolutely right, 1S is doable.

As for the secret on "The Final Countdown": it's a mini-game in itself! Would have added it to my "favourite" and "novelty" lists but didn't want to give away the location.

Excellent work :)

Fine hold.

I like the way the puzzles are constructed in general.

I liked 2W on the 1st level. I generally don't like "orb puzzles", but this one did make me laugh.

2 unintended solutions were left on the final level:

Well,
Click here to view the secret text
is understandable, because that one was tested really quickly only hours before release, and it was never tested in its current environment (there was another room instead, and this room was only tested in a separate three-room hold).

However,
Click here to view the secret text
bugs me a bit. It has a classic unintended solution that I should have noticed.

Dont blame you Stefan, you found so many mistakes, one is like none and actually you never saw 1E with a mimic i guess...

2 unintended solutions is fine... i mean 1S1W probably gets a bit easier with that, i guess 1E not really... however thx for pointing that out larry i guess its a general risk with such an "bomb" island... i will take care in my newest hold for case i use such thingies...
