A type of roach that goes \'invisible\' for one step in three (or two steps in four). It behaves just the same as normal roaches, but \'disappears\' every third (or third and fourth) move.

So you have to remember where things are when they are close to you.

A roomful of these beasties, spawned from a RoachQueen, could look pretty amusing as they blink in and out of existence.

[forgive me if such a monster exists, I\'m currently stuck fast in level 8 with all the pesky tar-mothers, and don\'t know what monsters feature in higher levels]

No, that\'s not quite a monster...there are spiders that appear invisible on certain tiles, but you\'ll find that out when you get to lvl 10. They\'re somewhat visible though...but the invisiroach may be interesting. How about a roach that appears when a certain distance away...kind of like how Beethro appears to roaches when invisible, they appear to him. Invisiqueens may be interesting as well.

I like the idea of them only appearing when they\'re close to you. It would be extremelly fun trying to figure out where a roach queen is while shes running away from you when you can\'t even see her.

Perhaps the torches on the level have gone out, and Beethro, intelligent being that he is, brought one along (he puts it in his shirt on his back). Since he is very intelligent, he asked his new boss for a map of the dungeon he must clean out. (Dugan was a dummy) He has memorized the map, so he knows about all of the orbs/walls in any room in this dark. The only thing is the monsters not appearing, until they are in the torch\'s range. I have no idea how difficult this would be to code...but I think it would be interesting. I really liked this idea, so I set it up to the top for further discussion.

Yeah, I like the idea too. That\'s easy enough to code up. We could even have those rooms be darker, except in the area around Beethro, or something. Monsters except this one would be visible in the darkened area.

Nice idea. Also they may have rankings which determines the time of invisibility. Ghost, Greater Ghost...

Actually, what I'd like to see is some lighting in the existing game. There's no torches anywhere, so Beethro probably has a torch. Perhaps there's a light around Beethro, but the rest of the level has ome blackness around it, of course, you can still see everything, it's just darker. As Beethro moves, the game auto-decides there's a torch on the wall somewhere near Beethro, and the room gets lighter.

Although that's more complicated.
